When you add lemons to a pitcher of water, you should not be surprised when you get lemonade. And when you inject woke initiatives, anti-police rhetoric and defund-the-police policies across the land, you should not be surprised when crime spikes and civil unrest abounds.
One of the innocents caught up in the crossfire is the widow of a retired St. Louis police captain who was murdered during a riot prompted by the death of George Floyd.
The incident happened in June 2020.
This week, the widow, Ann Dorn, blamed Vice President Kamala Harris and progressive billionaire George Soros for strategically creating an environment that sets the stage for needless violence and heartache.
Calling out Harris’ and Soros’ support of soft-on-crime policies, Ann Dorn, a retired police sergeant, spoke of her husband’s death. As his city was swept up in rage-against-the-police violence, David Dorn, 77, felt compelled to investigate when an alarm sounded at a nearby business owned by his friend.
David Dorn, who had 38 years of experience on the force, was shot 10 times by Stephan Cannon, 24. Cannon was later convicted of first-degree murder.
Ann Dorn alleges the Saint Louis business became an easy target during the riots because the police “were ordered not to do their jobs,” according to her report to The Daily Wire.
In an opinion piece for Fox News, Ann wrote that her husband “David became a cop because when he was a little boy he wanted to be a superhero. And he was a superhero. But if real-life superheroes exist, so do supervillains.”
Dorn was clear as she cited who she believed is responsible for the rise in crime in America:
“Those supervillains are people like the man who killed my husband. They are people like, billionaire George Soros, who use their power and influence to promote extremist politics and fan the flames of division. They are people like Vice President Kamala Harris, who raised money for the rioters’ bail funds, and the CEOs of prominent companies who blindly gave their support and money to this.”
Dorn wrote that her husband “didn’t agree with or support Black Lives Matter. He never understood Black Lives Matter, because it never actually did anything to help Black lives. The same year David was killed, over a dozen children were shot in St. Louis, and never once did Black Lives Matter show up. Their lives mattered. Fifty-five businesses were looted or destroyed the night David was murdered, many of them Black-owned. Their livelihoods mattered. My husband was a Black man who selflessly served his community for over 40 years. His life mattered.”
Dorn concluded, “Ultimately, David was murdered because the people who are supposed to protect our streets — active-duty police officers — were ordered not to do their jobs. It is clear that the anti-law enforcement sentiment that has been fueled in this country by Democrat and left-wing activist rhetoric has gone too far. Yes, there are bad cops out there, but addressing bad policing by ordering no policing at all is not a solution. It is extremist, it is dangerous, and it cost my husband his life.”
The Daily Mail reported that Soros had provided “tens of millions of dollars” to leftist candidates vying for district attorney positions in prominent cities. Notably, far-left district attorneys were placed in San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia in recent years. Currently, the DA in Los Angeles is under pressure to resign, and voters ousted San Francisco’s liberal DA earlier this year.
Vice President Kamala Harris publicly supported the Minnesota Freedom Fund during the summer riots of 2020. She tweeted, “If you’re able to, chip in now to the @MNFreedomFund to help post bail for those protesting on the ground in Minnesota.”
The New York Post reported that the fund that Harris supported was used to help George Howard, 48, make bail. Howard was being held on charges of domestic abuse. Soon after Howard was released, he was rearrested and charged for the murder of a driver in a road-rage incident.
Ann Dorn reports that after her tragic loss, neither BLM nor DNC leaders reached out to her:
“The Republican Party did reach out to me, several of them, just to offer their condolences. Donald Trump did call; Donald Trump has a history of calling law enforcement and first responders’ families when somebody is lost in the line of duty; to offer his condolences and offer his help; that was nothing new. Dave was actually known in the community, and he worked with a lot of Democrats, and I didn’t get one phone call or any condolence from any of them.”
