A former U.S. Attorney General used the magic “Trump” word designed to pump up sales of his newly released book.
Former President Donald Trump’s top cop is promoting his new book “One Damn Thing After Another – Memoirs of an Attorney General”. A recent exclusive television interview with Lester Holt on NBC included snippets from the book. The 45th president continues to fascinate Americans and featuring him heavily in the book will likely increase sales. He and Holt spoke mostly about his interactions with the former president.
The former Attorney General reportedly spoke in the Oval Office after the Associated Press said the Department of Justice explored claims of election fraud. Barr said he told Trump, “To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election.” Barr acknowledged there was probably fraud during the election, like he said there is in almost every large election, but it was not on the scale described by Trump.
“I told him that all this stuff was bullshit and — about election fraud — and, you know, it was wrong to keep shoveling it out the way his team was,” Barr told Holt. “He started asking me about different theories, and I had the answers. I was able to tell him, this is wrong because of this.”
Holt questioned him if he meant Barr meant he was trying to set Trump straight.
“Yes; and, you know, he listened,” replied Barr, adding Trump was obviously becoming angry as they spoke. “I said okay, I understand you’re upset with me and I’m perfectly happy to tend to my resignation, and then — boom!”
Barr’s arm movement prompted the interviewer to ask if the former presidents slapped the Oval Office desk.
The former AG agreed that was what happened. “And, then — boom! He slapped it again,” said Barr, adding the president accepted his resignation.
“Go home; don’t go back to your office, go home,” Trump told Barr. “You’re done.”
“Accepted!”
