On Friday, a dozen protestors gave the Bronx cheer to New York City’s vaccine mandate at a Times Square Olive Garden restaurant.
The peaceful protestors occupied the restaurant in the heart of the city for about two hours before the staff closed early. Independent journalist Oliya Scootercaster posted a video clip of the mask-less protestors telling the staff to join them and remove their masks also.
“Free yourselves,” one of the men can be heard telling the masked staff gathered together behind the counter.
The eatery that advertises, “When you’re here, you’re family,” treated them like family by ignoring them until they called the cops.
After law enforcement arrived, most of the protestors obeyed police orders to vacate the restaurant but four people refused and were arrested, a Blaze Media report notes.
Watch:
“Victorious, we shut them down,” one demonstrator crows as employees chose to close the restaurant rather than serve unmasked patrons.
Another independent journalist, Leeroy Johnson, captured footage of about two dozen NYPD officers escorting the handcuffed protestors to their vehicle. He posted a video clip of the encounter to his Twitter account.
“I got arrested,” one protestor can be heard saying as he was being cuffed and stuffed. “They arrested me for trying to eat at Olive Garden, that’s what happened.”
Another arrested protester proclaims loudly, “This is the Civil Rights movement again!”
One of the demonstrators can be heard yelling: “Wake up New York! Wake the f*** up!”
The New York Post reported three men and one woman were arrested and are expected to be charged with trespassing, according to officials. Their names were not immediately released.
During the last month, other anti-vax protests have been staged at other city restaurant chains including a Cheesecake Factory in Queens and a Burger King in Brooklyn last month, according to The New York Post.
