In an October 2019 speech, then-candidate Joe Biden asked voters to imagine how another year under Donald Trump could impact Ukraine.

“It’s going to take a Hell of a lot of work to undo the damage he has done nationally and internationally,” Biden said about then-President Trump. “His network of thugs and co-conspirators are going to try to undermine our democracy in the meantime.” He was referring to the baseless claims about Trump collusion with Russia.

“Imagine what he can do in another year; imagine what can happen in Ukraine.”

In additional remarks to the Democratic National Committee Women’s Leadership Forum Conference, Biden likened Trump to all the bullies he encountered as a stuttering kid. He said international thugs like Kim Jung-Il, Vladimir Putin and the Iranian leaders were thugs, like Trump.

History notes Russia forcefully annexed Crimea from Ukraine during the administration of former President Barack Obama, whom Biden served as Vice-President. Putin further established so-called “people’s republics” in Donetsk and Luhansk, two minerally-rich regions that were part of Ukraine.

History holds no record of further Russian encroachment in any former Soviet bloc country while Donald Trump was president. Despite alleged efforts by political operatives to smear his administration, foreign adversaries seemed wary of provoking President Trump. Russia played nice. China played nice. Iran played nicer. North Korea stopped testing ballistic missiles.

Ironically, slightly more than one year after Biden was inaugurated as president, his words proved prophetic.

Unfortunately for him, it turned out he was prophesying the consequences of his administration’s foreign policies.

Russia Thursday launched a multi-pronged attack against Ukraine, according to news agencies with reporters in the regions. Ships near Crimea reportedly launched surface-to-surface missiles at coastal targets; artillery fired rockets and medium-range missiles; and, Russian aircraft launched missiles and dropped bombs deeper in the interior.
