Defending majority control in the House just became more difficult as six former Navy SEALS announce they are running for Congress. Six separate campaigns, one goal: to wrest control of the House away from Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
On Monday, the six SEALS released a joint early campaign ad announcing their intent to run for Congress. The men are Morgan Luttrell (Texas-08), Brady Duke (Florida-07), Eli Crane (Arizona-02), Derrick Van Orden (Wisconsin-03), Ed Thelander (Main-01), and Ryan Zinke (Montana-01).
The ad’s theme is “Concern for America.” This theme will resonate with those who believe recent Democrat-led initiatives, policies, and bills were not advanced with the best interest of America’s citizenry in mind.
The commercial begins, “They took a blood oath to defend America.”
The first line casts the soldiers who want to defend America in stark contrast with President Joe Biden, whose foreign policies are criticized as putting Americans at risk.
Like Marvel superheroes, the six SEALS are positioned as courageous crusaders who will fight to right wrongs. The narrator continues:
“They know that our enemies are no match for their strength and their courage. These former Navy SEALs have protected America from enemies all over the world.”
The 30-second commercial crescendos by noting there is one supervillain they have yet to face, and the candidates “need your help.”
“Now they have one grave threat left to defeat,” says the narrator gravely, as Pelosi’s picture is shown.
“Join them,” are the final words.
Watch:
Twenty-eight House Democrats have announced they will not seek reelection in the 2022 midterms — something that the Legal Insurrection news outlet termed “ominous.”
Still unknown is the future role Nancy Pelosi will play in politics. With public support plummeting for many Democratic leaders and initiatives, many pundits expect Pelosi to announce her retirement sometime this year.
