You know you’re in trouble when, as the leader of the free world, you’re mocked in a “Saturday Night Live” style skit on a government-controlled television network operated by a supposed ally.
The unflattering and now-viral skit aired on the Saudi television network, MBC. It mocked President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris—portraying them as sleepy, incoherent, and at the end of the skit, demanding allegiance.
The skit aired on the show “Studio 22,” and presented a masculine-looking Harris as the muscle and mouthpiece behind the forgetful and bewildered Biden, who several times fell asleep at the podium.
The skit begins with the actor portraying Biden pointing aimlessly at reporters, then wandering off the stage, only to have a shocked Harris run after him and direct the President back to the podium.
Biden then begins to discuss “the crisis in Spain,” at which point he is corrected by Harris, who whispers that the crisis is in Russia.
Biden acknowledges the correction but can’t retain the thought and immediately says, “We’re going to talk about the crisis in Africa,” prompting Harris to correct him again.
Biden then strikes a serious persona, and is about to rebuke Russia but then forgets the name of the Russian President. Then he falls asleep.
Watch:
Harris nudges him, and Biden resumes speaking, now referencing the “President of China.”
After being corrected by Harris yet again, Biden refers to Harris as the “first lady,” at which point Harris covers the microphone before any more gaffs can be made.
Biden tries to close by thanking the audience and saying “God bless you!” but falls asleep mid-sentence and into the arms of Harris, who drags him off stage, ordering the crowd to “Clap for your President—Clap for your President right now!”
The clip has more than 2.5 million views.
The New York Post reported the skit “could also be interpreted as a sign of Riyadh’s cold view of the Biden administration,” noting that “relations between the US and Saudi Arabia are at a low point.”
Recently Saudi Arabia and allies in the region rebuffed Biden’s pleas to boost oil production and his offer to visit the kingdom to discuss options.
