Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., went after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., after video surfaced of her and fellow Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., pretending to be handcuffed as they were led away from a pro-abortion protest.
Greene told Ocasio-Cortez that “desperate isn’t a good look” and suggested that she “go back to your Insta makeup tutorials.”
“AOC so you faked being handcuffed to keep lying to women? Abortion is legal up until birth in NY, but your voters can’t afford groceries and crime is out of control. Desperate isn’t a good look on you. Go back to your Insta makeup tutorials, you’re actually good at those,” Rep. Greene wrote.
“Ocasio-Cortez was seen being walked away by an officer alongside another protestor with her hands crossed behind her back, both of which had green bandanas, with the color being associated with the pro-abortion group Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights and pro-abortion protests across the country,” reported Hannah Nightingale at The Post Millennial.
Greene also came after Omar in another tweet. “You faked being handcuffed for your photo-op today as Cap Police warned you 3 times to get out of the street. Then you were arrested, so you would stop playing in traffic. Abortion is legal up to 24 weeks in Minnesota, you’re protesting nothing. You’re a liar.”
Greene posted a thread of videos later in the day giving her thoughts fully.
A total of 17 Democratic Congress members were arrested at the protest. The other lawmakers who were arrested are Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.), Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.), Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), Rep. Madeline Dean (D-Pa.), Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-N.Y.), Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.), Assistant Speaker of the House Katherine Clark (D-Mass.), Rep. Sara Jacobs (D-Calif.), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Rep. Andy Levin (D-Mich.), Rep. Alma Adams (D-N.C.), Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.), Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-Texas) and Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.).
