Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy challenged Press Secretary Jen Psaki during Wednesday’s press briefing, asking about a claim President Joe Biden had made earlier in the day.
Biden, while speaking about the leaked early opinion draft that suggested the Supreme Court might overturn landmark abortion cases Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, claimed that Republicans might use that to implement laws that would segregate LGBTQ children from the other children in classrooms.
“What happens if you have — states change the law saying that children who are LGBTQ can’t be in classrooms with other children? Is that legit [under the] way the decision is written?” Biden asked, pivoting then to try to pin the issue to former President Donald Trump. “What are the next things that are going to be attacked? Because this MAGA crowd is really the most extreme political organization that’s existed in American history.”
Doocy brought the comment up with Psaki during the briefing, asking where Biden had gotten the idea that anyone wanted to segregate LGBTQ kids.
“The president said today, ‘What happens if you have states change the law saying that children who are LGBTQ can’t be in classrooms with other children?’” Doocy began. “What is he talking about?”
“Well, I think, Peter, we’ve seen extreme laws that target LGBTQ families, their kids, across the country, and I think what he’s saying is we don’t know what they’re capable of, given what they’ve already done to date,” Psaki claimed.
“Which state is trying to segregate LGBTQ children in the classroom?” Doocy asked directly.
