A few Brits took a moment to express their feelings on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau while he visited the island nation for the funeral of beloved monarch Elizabeth II.
The 44-second clip shows Trudeau walking out of what appears to be the Canadian embassy in London, not far from the site of the funeral. While he exited, some of the crowds around cheered, but a rather vocal group started yelling at the prime minister, holding up a one-fingered salute as he walked down the stairs.
One man took his disdain for Trudeau a step further, shouting at the PM, “Canadians hate you, you bastard! You f—ing bastard Trudeau!”
The man continued, “fascist, fascist, bastard! We hate you, you son-of-a-b–ch! Get out of this country, you bastard!” another woman yelled at the PM, asking, “how dare you?”
It’s not the first time Trudeau has been booed since he entered the island nation. Hours before the state funeral for the deceased monarch, he joined other Canadians to sing in London’s Corinthia Hotel. British people felt even more slighted that the song, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” was written by the rock band Queen.
After the clip gained traction online, the prime minister was booed as he walked from Canada House to his waiting vehicle, waving and smiling all the while.
Trudeau has something of a record of scandals, stemming from the time when he was first elected, when images emerged of the PM in blackface on at least three separate occasions. While in office, he angered people in India when he wore native garb while meeting with Indian officials, who wore somber, basic suits to the meeting.
Brits have something of a record of telling politicians, domestic or otherwise, their opinions on them, often in just as plain terms. In 2018, British people went out in droves to buy Green Day’s “American Idiot” not long before former President Donald Trump visited the country. The song was number one in the nation by the time he arrived.
