President Joe Biden has been accused of not knowing where he is—and video appears to support that claim. On Tuesday, during the State of the Union Address, as the President seemed to forget what country Russia is currently invading, Vice President Kamala Harris tried to help him by mouthing or whispering the correct answer.
Some contend that the cringeworthy moment included the Vice President making a face.
Biden began his State of the Union address discussing the invasion and correctly stated that Putin “badly miscalculated” the resolve of the Ukrainian people.
“Six days ago, Russia’s Vladimir Putin sought to shake the foundations of the free world thinking he could make it bend to his menacing ways. But he badly miscalculated,” Biden said. “He thought he could roll into Ukraine and the world would rollover. Instead, he met a wall of strength he never anticipated or imagined. He met the Ukrainian people.”
President Biden errored a few moments later when he said, “Putin may circle Kyiv with tanks, but he’ll never gain the hearts and souls of the Iranian people.”
Video highlighting the gaffe has made the rounds on social media sites.
Journalist Greg Price tweeted: “LMFAO Kamala appeared to mouth ‘Ukrainian’ when Joe Biden said Iranian.”

A fighter pilot tweeted: “Kamala Harris appears to silently correct Biden’s ‘Iranian’ gaffe by mouthing ‘Ukrainian.'”
KBEC correspondent Brian Stevens commented: “Biden doesn’t even know who Russia is invading. ‘Iranian’?? Kamala even looked Embarrassed and mouthed ‘Ukrainian…'”
The New York Post reports that Tuesday’s gaffe follows an embarrassing interview earlier in the day on the syndicated “Morning Hustle” radio program. During that interview, Harris was asked to explain the conflict in the Ukraine “in layman’s terms for people who don’t understand what’s going on and how can this directly affect the people of the United States?”
Speaking slowly, Harris began, “So, Ukraine is a country in Europe.”
“It exists next to another country called Russia,” she continued. “Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So, basically, that’s wrong, and it goes against everything that we stand for.”
