President Joe Biden’s former press secretary was compared unfavorably to former President Donald Trump’s spokeswoman by a podcast host Saturday.
Joe Rogan, host of “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast on Spotify, spoke Saturday with NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers. During the three-hour program, they discussed the government’s response to COVID-19, which came to include vaccines, masks and lockdowns.
The Green Bay Packers player created controversy about vaccination against COVID in 2021. In an August preseason press conference he answered a question about his vaccination status by replying he was immunized.
In a November 5 interview on “The Pat MacAfee Show” after he contracted COVID, Rodgers declared the Packers organization was aware of his vaccination status. Rodgers also claimed he consulted Rogan about how to handle the virus.
So, the two spoke about vaccination policies in general and specifically about the Biden administration’s policy to push vaccines. During the weekend interview, the podcast host blasted former White House press secretary Jen Psaki.
“When Jen Psaki said these vaccines are approved by the FDA, which is the gold standard, that was a lie,” Rogan exclaimed. He explained the vaccines were initially authorized by the federal government by granting them an “emergency use authorization.”
“They weren’t approved,” Rogan declared, “but she was a propagandist.”
The press secretary has a weird job, Rogan said, describing it as a position that entails toeing the administration line even when the line is crooked. The podcast host declared Harvard lawyer Kayleigh McEnany, who served as former President Donald Trump’s fourth press secretary, was an exception.
“That lady was a f***ing assassin,” Rogan declared. “That lady had like binders, with footnotes. And anyone would say something and she’d be like, ‘That’s interesting, because actually CNN said this.’ And she would, like, quote it back to them and stuff it in their face.”
“That lady was the best ever at that job,” the podcaster added. “She’s the f***ing Michael Jordan of White House press secretaries.”

Rogan’s comments mirror recognition and respect she has also received from political opponents.
“I’m not trying to defend the messaging, but what I hope people can acknowledge is there’s very few people in either party who can accomplish what Kayleigh has accomplished in such a short time,” said Van Jones, a CNN commentator and liberal activist who mentored McEnany when she joined CNN. “People keep taking her lightly, and they keep regretting it.”
