Florida’s Republican governor issued a scathing response to President Joe Biden’s Friday speech demonizing Republicans as threats to American democracy.
“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,” Biden remarked during his September 1 speech outside Philadelphia’s Independence Hall.
Biden’s vitriol voiced Thursday was delivered at a federal park, behind a wooden lectern bearing the presidential seal. He was flanked by two U.S. Marines standing at attention in dress uniform and the U.S. Marine Corps band. The inference was plain he planned to bring the full might and majesty of the United States of America against political opponents like Republicans.
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) fired right back with a blistering verbal volley on Friday’s Fox News program “The Ingraham Angle.” If words wounded like double-ought buckshot, DeSantis’ remarks would have punched a hole in Biden big enough to drive a train through.
The Sunshine State’s governor called the president’s Philadelphia address, “one of the most disgusting speeches an American president has ever given.”
Florida’s governor noted Biden campaigned as a unifier who would try to heal the country, yet he basically called the 74 million voters who supported Donald Trump a threat to the republic.
“He dodders, he lashes out, but at the end of the day, his policies are why there’s so much opposition to him,” declared DeSantis. “He came in and he opened the border, and we’ve seen what a disaster that’s been; he kneecapped American energy, we’ve seen how that’s hurt millions and millions of people across our country; they’ve inflated the currency, we have one of the worst inflations we’ve had in over 40 years.”
DeSantis explained people suffering from those Biden policies that have adversely impacted them are upset with the wreckage the president has left in his wake.
“He is the American Nero,” remarked the governor. “He’s a failed leader.”
“And I think that he is doing this because he’s trying to energize his base to fend off a real butt whipping this November.”
