In a rare explosion of criticism of Joe Biden on a left-leaning network, several CNN hosts blasted the President for refusing to take responsibility for spiking gas prices.
The comments were shared during CNN’s “Inside Politics Sunday” show as the panel discussed how Biden cast a positive light on Friday’s jobs report. The glowing report noted that America reportedly recorded more than 400,000 new jobs in March.
However, many quickly pointed out that the report was misleading. According to government data, employment numbers remain 1.6 million jobs below pre-pandemic levels. Also, the report does not consider all key inflation factors impacting economic health.
According to Blaze Media, during the ‘Inside Politics Sunday’ broadcast, “Axios reporter Hans Nichols described any positive news about the economy as ‘largely irrelevant’ because of inflation and high gas prices, and CNN host Abby Phillip agreed.”
A frustrated Nichols said: “There’s one number that they can’t really change right now. And that is what the placard says at the local gas station, and that number is high, and that’s the daily jobs report that voters, Americans…see every day.”
Nichols continued, “And there’s nothing the White House can do about it, other than bring down the price of gasoline.”
“And maybe blame Putin,” Phillip said sarcastically before roundly criticizing Biden for calling the gas price surge the “Putin price hike.”
“Look,” Nichols interjected, “when I’ve passed gas stations that say ‘blame Putin’ more than they say ‘Let’s go, Brandon,’ I’ll know the White House has been successful in messaging.”
Phillip called Nichols’ observation “fascinating,” then highlighted polling that shows Biden’s messaging has failed.
“Take a look at this Quinnipiac poll,” said Phillip. “Americans just don’t buy that this is related to the war in Ukraine, and most of it, frankly, is not: 41% say it’s Biden’s policies, just 24% say the war in Ukraine, 24% also say the oil and gas companies are raising prices.”

Phillip’s scathing assessment concluded by claiming that Biden and “the White House are trying to…blame Putin, blame the oil and gas companies — but Americans just don’t agree.”
Multiple surveys show that most Americans do not trust political leaders and believe America is headed in the wrong direction. In devasting news to Democrats, a Real Clear Politics poll shows that Americans are looking to Republicans for solutions.
The Hill published the assessment of a key Democrat Party strategist. He said: “President Joe Biden’s poll numbers are triggering panic mode ahead of the 2022 midterms.”
“It’s bad,” he continued. “You have an energy crisis that’s paralyzing and inflation is at a 40-year high, and we’re heading into a recession. The problem is simple. The American people have lost confidence in him.”
He concluded, “Everyone needs to come to terms with the reality that we’re going to get slaughtered in November. That’s a fact. [Biden’s] polling has gotten worse, not better…people have lost confidence in his leadership. There’s nothing they’re going to be able to do.”
