After sending eight buses of illegal immigrants to Washington, D.C., Texas Governor Greg Abbott remains resolute, vowing to send busses to D.C. “every single day” as long as the Biden administration fails to address the border crisis.
After nearly 2 million reported illegal immigrants entered the U.S. last year, Texas Governor Abbot says, “enough is enough.”
Abbot has seen firsthand how open-border policies have negatively impacted medical, education and economic sectors in his state and correlate with a spike in crime.
The plan to bus immigrants to D.C. is part of “Operation Lone Star,” a multi-agency effort to respond to the surge of migrants at the border since the Biden administration reversed Trump-era border policies.
The first bus from Texas arrived in D.C. last Wednesday and included immigrants from Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.
Gov. Abbott released the following statement: “As the federal government continues to turn a blind eye to the border crisis, the State of Texas will remain steadfast in our efforts to fill in the gaps and keep Texans safe.”
Abbott added: “By transporting migrants to Washington, D.C., the Biden Administration will be able to more immediately meet the needs of the people they are allowing to cross our border. Texas should not have to bear the burden of the Biden Administration’s failure to secure our border.”
Gov. Abbott is not alone in his frustration at the Biden administration’s border policies.
Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida told the press recently that “he will not allow the state of Florida to become a sanctuary state and if the Biden admin dumps any illegal immigrants into Florida then he will send them to Biden’s home state of Delaware.”
Fox News reported that “Last November, DeSantis said dozens of migrant flights landed in Florida at the behest of the Biden administration. He complained, “Biden is dumping people…he has dumped people…they fly them in at two in the morning.”
Later, DeSantis said: “If they’re going to come here, we’ll provide buses, I will send them to Delaware.”
According to the 100PercentFedUp platform, Judicial Watch notes that the Biden administration is directing that immigrants be “placed in Red (majority Republican) states” and that the transport of immigrants is often clandestine.
Judicial Watch noted: “In an apparent effort to avoid public scrutiny, the Biden administration is transporting planeloads of illegal immigrant minors in the middle of the night then busing them to cities in the southeast.”
The Biden Administration’s intention to repeal Title 42 next month seems to be a catalyst in escalating the feud between border states and Washington, D.C.
RTM reported that eighteen Republican attorneys general recently joined a lawsuit seeking to force Joe Biden’s White House to keep in place COVID-related Title 42 that provides for the safety of American citizens and somewhat mitigates the influx of migrants.
The suit to stop the administration from revoking Title 42 was originally filed by the attorneys general of Arizona, Louisiana and Missouri. On Friday, the New York Post reported that attorneys general from 18 other states joined the suit: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming.
In a Tuesday interview on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum,” Abbot said: “We will continue the busing process every single day for the reason that I think you mentioned earlier on. And that is the Biden administration has been dumping off these migrants by the hundreds in local communities that do not have the ability to take care or deal with.”
Abbot continued: “These migrants are being dropped off – and as opposed to them being there in these small communities or the small communities having to spend money dealing with it, we decided to bus them to Washington, D.C.”
Gov. Abbot also noted that he is considering other drop-off locations, including Biden’s home state of Deleware, for those who cross the Texas border illegally.
“People in Delaware are going to see what the people in Texas are having to grapple with,” Abbott said.
