In a written statement on the Save America platform, former U.S. President Donald Trump issued a warning to lawmakers who vote for President Joe Biden’s $1.75 trillion “Build Back Better” bill.
Trump’s statement is sharply critical of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s leadership. He refers to McConnell (R-Kent.) as “Old Broken Crow” and accuses him of giving Democrats time to maneuver and pass a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill earlier this month.
Congress could vote on the $1.75 trillion “Build Back Better” bill as early as Saturday.
According to the Freedom Times, the bill heavily supports Progressive initiatives, including “$500 billion to allegedly combat climate change.”
Trump’s statement warns that passing the infrastructure bill would be “a disaster for America” and that “only 11% of the money will be spent on REAL Infrastructure.”
Trump also warned that the actual cost of the $1.75 trillion bill could rise to approximately $5 trillion after the planned Green New Deal add-on projects are factored into the price tag.
Trump, known for his frank speech, said that passing the $1.2 trillion bill earlier this month “was all allowed by Mitch McConnell’s incompetence and… [could lead to the] destruction of our Country as we know it.”
Referring to the “Build Back Better” bill as the “Dream of Communism Bill,” Trump said that McConnell should fight to stop the bill from moving forward by “keep[ing] his Senators in line, or he should resign now, something he should have done a long time ago.”
In Trumpian style, he signs off: “Any Republican in the House or Senate who votes for this Bill will never ever get a Trump Endorsement. Thank you, and good luck!”
In a previous post, Resist The Mainstream reported that though Pelosi is about ready to move forward with a vote on the bill, at least five Democrats have pledged to withhold their support unless the Congressional Budget Office issues a report showing that the actual cost of the bill is comparable to White House projections.
The five Democrats in question are Reps. Stephanie Murphy (D-Fla.), Ed Case (D-Hawaii), Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), Kathleen Rice (D-N.Y.), and Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.).
A Fox News report includes this quote from a representative speaking for the five Moderates:
“We commit to voting for the Build Back Better act, in its current form other than technical changes, as expeditiously as we receive fiscal information from the Congressional Budget Office — but in no event later than the week of November 15th — consistent with the toplines for revenues and investments.”
Recent reporting notes that the Congressional Budget Office’s report, which is set to be released on Friday, will not correlate with White House projections, pushing the actual price tag for the bill well over $2 trillion.
This puts Nancy Pelosi’s ability to pass the bill in further doubt.
