It is clear there is no love lost between Representative Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., and former Republican President Donald Trump. Last week Cheney called Trump a “dangerous and irrational man,” adding, “at this moment, we are confronting a domestic threat that we have never faced before. And that is a former president who is attempting to unravel the foundations of our Constitutional Republic.”
Today the former president fired back. Utilizing his growing social media platform, Truth Social, Trump called Cheney a “despicable human being.”
Cheney made her comments during an address at the Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute on Sunday.
During her address, which was not to focus on the former president, Cheney charged that Trump “is aided by Republican leaders and elected officials who have made themselves willing hostages to this dangerous and irrational man.”
Cheney added that some Republicans are “embracing” Trump and “enabling his lies.”
Not known for exceptional self-control or discretion on his social media posts, Trump pummeled Cheney a day after the congresswoman suggested the January 6 committee may recommend the former president to the Justice Department for potential prosecution.
Cheney charges Trump is guilty of criminal behavior in his role in the January 6 breach of the Capitol.
Trump hit back on Monday:
Warmongering and despicable human being Liz Cheney, who is hated by the great people of Wyoming (down 35!), keeps saying, over and over again, that HER Fake Unselect Committee may recommend CRIMINAL CHARGES against a President of the United States who got more votes than any sitting President in history.
Even the Dems didn’t know what she was talking about! Why doesn’t she press charges instead against those that cheated on the Election, or those that didn’t properly protect the Capitol?
Trump later added: Why doesn’t the highly partisan Unselect Committee of political Thugs, the same people (all Trump haters & profiteers – books, speeches, etc.) that were involved with Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax # 2, the “No Collusion” Mueller Report and, overall, the GREATEST WITCH HUNT IN THE HISTORY OF THE USA, go after the people who have been rioting, burning down cities, leading the massive crime wave, & killing many all over the U.S., including drug & human traffickers? No, let’s get “Trump”!
Notably, Cheney is not doing well in her bid to hold her seat in November’s midterms. Town Hall reports the incumbent has “terrible poll numbers,” garnering a favorable rating of just 18% of respondents in her party.
