Three Canadian doctors at one hospital died within days of each other last week, according to a hospital statement.
“It is with deep sadness that THP mourns the loss of three of our physicians who recently passed away,” Trillium Health Partners noted in a Wednesday Twitter post. “Dr. Jakub Sawicki, Dr. Stephen McKenzie and Dr. Lorne Segall were respected physicians who dedicated their lives to caring for their patients and community.”
The hospital issued a statement on its website Thursday, further announcing the deaths of three doctors.
“Dr. Jakub Sawicki, Dr. Stephen McKenzie and Dr. Lorne Segall were trusted colleagues who were committed to caring for their patients and community,” said interim Media Relations Manager Amit Shilton in the statement.
“The rumour circulating on social media is simply not true,” Shilton added. “Their passings were not related to the COVID-19 vaccine.” He was referring to a social media account that suggested the cluster of doctor deaths may be related to recently received COVID-19 vaccination shots.
“We ask to please respect their families’ privacy during this difficult time,” Shilton concluded.
An Instagram post to the account of “Monique” noted the three doctors working at THP’s Mississauga hospital had recently received their fourth COVID-19 shot. “[H]ow many times have 3 doctors died in 1 week, days after the hospital started administering the 4th shot to staff,” she asked in her post.
She added that the deaths of three Mississauga hospital doctors occurred one week after a doctor at another, nearby THP hospital died July 16 while running. The middle-aged head of the Emergency Room was a marathon runner, according to a report by the Gateway Pundit.
Dr. Segall’s July 17 death was announced to colleagues in a July 18 hospital-wide memo issued by Dr. Thomas Short, Chief and Medical Director, Surgery Program.
The July 18 death of Dr. McKenzie was shared the following day via a memo issued by Dr. Dana Wilson, Chief and Medical Director, Neuro/MSK Program.
Another memo went out to hospital employees July 21 announcing the death of Dr. Jakub Sawicki. His date of death was not given in the memo generated by Dr. Short. The memos for the other two doctors, which were reviewed by RTM, were issued the day after the individual’s death, so it follows that Dr. Sawicki probably died July 20.
The three medical care providers worked at Trillium Health Partners’ Mississauga Hospital, a regional and teaching hospital in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The hospital has 827 patient beds, according to its website.
It is not clear how many physicians work at the hospital but three doctors at the same hospital dying within four days of each other is hard to wrap one’s mind around. The odds may not approach those of winning the Mega Millions jackpot but they have to be extremely high.
Shilton did not immediately return a Friday email requesting comment.
