The Wisconsin Department of Justice on Saturday revealed the identity of the man suspected of killing former Juneau County Judge John Roemer.
Juneau County Special Tactics and Response Team found 56-year-old Douglas K. Uhde in the basement of the Lisbon, Wisconsin, home where Roemer was killed while zip-tied to a chair. Uhde had a self-afflicted gunshot wound and was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
DOJ officials also revealed that the anonymous person who dialed 911 was in the home with Roeme and Uhde but escaped to a nearby home to make the call.
Authorities attempted to negotiate with Uhde, but Roemer was dead and Uhde had shot himself by the time the team entered the home.
Police later found a hit list in Uhde’s vehicle. The most prominent names included Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
