In a move deemed offensive by many congressional leaders, Representative Jeff Duncan (R-SC) donned a “Let’s Go Brandon” mask on the House floor on Monday.
The now-viral phrase became a euphemism after an NBC reporter interviewing NASCAR race winner Brandon Brown suggested that the crowd was chanting “Let’s go Brandon,” when in reality, the crowd was echoing a line heard at several televised sporting events: “F*** Joe Biden.”
Senator Duncan’s gesture follows Representative Bill Posey’s use of the “Let’s Go Brandon” phrase in his concluding remarks to the House last week.
Governor Abbott of Texas tweeted the phrase over the weekend, and Senator Ted Cruz recently posted a video of him repeating the phrase as well.
Business Reports notes that Duncan did not seem remorseful for wearing the mask while exiting the House floor, despite outrage from some.
When Jake Sherman, Founder of Punchbowl News, reported the incident on Twitter, Duncan responded by posting a mask emoji.

The Daily Wire reports that Duncan’s decision to wear the mask incensed Democratic Party Chairwoman Jody Gaulin.
Gaulin told The Seneca Journal, “Not only does Jeff Duncan not deliver for the people of the third district — I cannot think of a thing he has truly done — he now sports a vulgar slogan on his mask and walks off the floor!”
“The hypocrisy of the Faith and Freedom BBQ is exposed!” the Democrat claimed.
Anti-Biden sentiment around the country is increasing. President Biden has been met with chanting crowds, negative billboards, and protestors at several recent outings.
Discontent with the economy, vaccine mandates, the border crisis, and America’s recent exit from Afghanistan is being expressed in many ways, even in song.
PopVortex reports that songs by rappers Bryson Gray and Loza Alexander, both titled “Let’s Go Brandon,” are currently the top-selling songs on iTunes.
