Dr. Robert Malone, who helped develop the Messenger RNA technology that the COVID vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna were built on, has warned of immune imprinting after Dr. Anthony Fauci recommended a second booster for individuals five years and older.
“I couldn’t design a vaccine if I wanted to, to be more likely to drive immune imprinting,” Malone told The Epoch Times. Immune imprinting is a phenomenon where exposure to a viral strain can make individuals more susceptible to later strains by making their bodies incapable of producing enough antibodies to fight later strains.
Current vaccines are based on the initial strains of the COVID-19 virus, which originated in Wuhan, China. Current strains, such as the Omicron variant, are mutations of the original virus.
An increasing number of studies have shown that vaccination makes individuals more likely to become infected with COVID-19 rather than less likely as was claimed. Other studies, such as one carried out by the Imperial College London and the UK Health Security Agency found that individuals who were infected with the initial strain and triple vaccinated were less protected against later strains such as Delta and Omicron.
Booster doses were reportedly intended to increase the effectiveness of the vaccine against later strains and variants. After the booster’s effectiveness lasted only a short amount of time, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommended second boosters for individuals over 50 in March.
Fauci is now pushing the idea that individuals between 5 and 50 should be pursuing a second booster shot, which would be the fourth vaccination tied to COVID-19 for many individuals.
Fauci told the Washington Post that the United States “need[s] to allow people who are under 50 to get their second booster shot, since it may have been months since many of them got their first booster.”
“If I got my third shot [in 2021], it is very likely the immunity is waning,” he added.
Despite a large portion of the population being vaccinated, however, cases are beginning to increase within the U.S. While officials blame the BA.4 and BA.5 strains of the Omicron variant, Malone and others believe that the fault may lie elsewhere.
“You got a major problem with the new Omicron, that’s the BA.5. The people that are getting infected chronically and hospitalized and dying are predominantly the vaccinated. It’s happening all over the world,” Malone said. “Now they’ve got a problem because they have driven this because of immune imprinting. This is increasingly becoming a vaccine-driven disease.”
Fauci has been a major vaccine proponent since the dawn of the pandemic. Malone claims that he “has basically created a situation through the insistence on the hyper vaccination where he’s actually driving the disease in the United States.”
While both the CDC and Fauci responded, claiming that boosted and vaccinated individuals have more protection than unvaccinated, neither responded to new studies showing that individuals with natural immunity have stronger protection from COVID than those with boosters.
“Effectiveness of primary infection against severe, critical, or fatal COVID-19 reinfection was 97.3 percent … irrespective of the variant of primary infection or reinfection, and with no evidence for waning. Similar results were found in sub-group analyses for those ≥50 years of age,” said the article, published by Dr. Laith Abu-Raddad of Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar and colleagues.
