Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, has ordered the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to report to his committee and be ready to respond to five demands for information regarding immigration and border enforcement data.
Jordan’s questions pertain to border enforcement policies, immigration programs and statistics, and information on the number of immigrants who have evaded arrests.
Mayorkas is to report to the Committee on April 28.
Mayorkas was ordered to provide information on the following:
- Customs and Border Protection data for the southern border since Jan. 20, 2021 (specifically, encounters and getaways).
- All data related to interior immigration enforcement since Jan. 20, 2021.
- Data on what is known as the Remain in Mexico program in which certain migrants await court proceedings in Mexico.
- Details on the Biden administration’s plan for addressing anticipated problems associated with the rescinding of Title 42.
- Data on other immigration programs, including Special Immigrant Visas for Afghan allies, Temporary Protected Status and immigration benefits.
In his demand for Mayorkas to report to his committee, Jordan wrote: “The Biden administration’s radical immigration policies have caused a humanitarian and security crisis along our southwest border.”
Jordan continued: “As the Secretary of Homeland Security, you are responsible for carrying out President Biden’s far-left immigration policies. Republicans on the Judiciary Committee have been seeking your testimony since April 15, 2021, and we are heartened that you have finally agreed to testify in person before the Committee on Thursday, April 28, 2022.”
Not surprisingly, the DHS did not immediately respond for comment when approached by officials with the Daily Caller.
