Since her election to Congress in 2021, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., has been a thorn in the side of those who oppose fair play and justice for all. Case in point: on Monday Greene hung a “new sign” outside her office, noting the hypocrisy of the Biden administration in general and Kamala Harris in particular.
The “sign” depicts an enlarged tweet posted in 2020 by then-Senator Kamala Harris, showing her supporting violent BLM protests and riots that led to several deaths and, according to The Freedom Times, caused $1-2 billion in damages to more than 1,500 properties.
Greene explained:
“Since the Democrats are obsessed with investigating 1 riot, even though all the people involved have been arrested and charged and some are still rotting pretrial in jail, this is my new sign outside my office.”
During the summer of 2020, Kamala Harris posted on Twitter: “If you’re able to, chip in now to the @MNFreedomFund to help post bail for those protesting on the ground in Minnesota.”
Along with numerous Biden staffers, Harris promoted the Minnesota Freedom Fund during the George Floyd riots. According to a Reuters report, “At least 13 Biden campaign staff members posted on Twitter [last summer] that they made donations to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which opposes the practice of cash bail, or making people pay to avoid pretrial imprisonment. The group uses donations to pay bail fees in Minneapolis.”
Harris was not just a supporter of the protests and fundraising efforts; she posted a video of herself participating in a protest.
FOX 9 reported that MFF raised $35 million in the wake of George Floyd’s death. A recent update on the MFF website indicates it has spent at least $3,475,000 bailing people out of jail.
Many see the sharp contrast between how January 6 protestors in Washington, D.C., and BLM-related protestors were treated and prosecuted. Some arrested in the Democrat-led January 6 Select Committee’s $40 million prosecution effort have not yet stood trial, while others have received unusually harsh sentences.
A report by CNN noted that Judge Trevor McFadden “slammed the Justice Department for not being even-handed with the January 6 defendants, compared to the rioters involved in last year’s racial unrest.”
Former President Barack Obama appointee Judge Beryl Howell has repeatedly rebuffed prosecutors when they asked for incarceration for January 6 protest participants. During the sentencing of one defendant, Howell said “the Justice Department was almost schizophrenic for stressing the dire consequences of the insurrection while letting [BLM] rioters plead to a petty offense.”
Howell also rejected prosecutor pleas to use protestors’ military service to seek stricter punishments.
