Though federal election infrastructure officials have assured the public that the 2020 election was the “most secure in American history,” and The New York Times declared there is no evidence of election fraud or tampering of ballots, concerned voters continue to produce evidence to the contrary.
The Heritage Foundation reports there have been 1,353 “proven instances of recent voter fraud” leading to 1,165 “criminal convictions.”
According to The Epoch Times, the U.S. Postal Service and Los Angeles County Registrar’s Office are investigating the reported find of 104 unopened mail-in ballots on a sidewalk in Hollywood.
The ballots were in a box and found by Christina Repaci as she walked her dog Saturday evening in East Hollywood.
“I turned the corner and I just saw this box of envelopes, and it was a USPS box. I picked some envelopes up and I saw they were ballots,” Repaci told Fox 11.
Repaci notes that she quickly informed authorities of her find.
“I actually called the Sheriff’s Department. I couldn’t get through, so I emailed them,” Repaci said in her interview with the Fox affiliate. “I got an email back from a deputy basically in so many words saying it wasn’t their problem, and to contact the USPS.”
Repaci notes that the Los Angeles County Registrar’s Office contacted her on Monday, and Registrar Dean Logan personally drove to meet her and collect the ballots.
Logan noted there was confusion regarding how to handle the matter:
“It was so much stress and for just one person to get back to me. What do I do here? Now if it happens to someone else, they don’t know what to do. They’ll just put them in a dumpster or throw them in the trash. I just don’t think it should have been this hard to figure out what to do with legal ballots. This is a country of freedom and our votes should matter and something like this should never happen.”
By Monday evening, the matter seemed to be sorted out. The registrar’s office reported:
“Our office was notified over the weekend of a mail tray found containing approximately 104 unopened, outbound Vote by Mail ballots and additional mail pieces. Thanks to the cooperation of the person who found the ballots, we were able to quickly respond and coordinate the secure pickup of the ballots.”
The office reported that “early signs” suggest “mail theft” rather than a concerted effort to disrupt the results of the upcoming June 7 primary.
The registrar’s office also reported that they are cooperating with the U.S. Postal Service and law enforcement to investigate the incident and reissued new ballots to impacted voters.
The Epoch Times notes that “mail-in ballots have been flagged by Republicans” as evidence that the system is “flawed and insecure.”
In April, an election watchdog group, True The Vote, reported that more than 137,500 absentee ballots were cast in several of “Wisconsin’s largest cities during the 2020 election via unlawful vote trafficking.”
