Pennsylvania political pundits predict former President Donald Trump would win the Keystone State’s 19 electoral votes if he runs for reelection.
There were 4 million registered Democrats in Pa. in May 2022, according to the state’s Department of State, which noted there were 3.5 million registered Republicans. The state is considered in play for both parties because there are 1.3 million voters registered in other parties, such as Libertarian, Green or “other,” according to the report in The Epoch Times.
A recent report from Reuters noted that, for every Republican switching their party, there are four Democrats changing their party affiliation to register as Republicans. If that trend continues, it could give Republican candidates comfortable margins of victory in upcoming election cycles.
Many Republicans in the state believe, hands down, that the former president is still the best candidate for president.
“It’s absolutely central to our survival,” Schuylkill county author Russell S. Hepler reportedly said. “And 2022 as well. I don’t want to underemphasize this upcoming election, because that’s going to lay the foundation for 2024, for good, or for bad.”
Pastor Hepler reportedly remarked as an individual not as a representative of his church or parishioners.
“If they keep pushing this radical leftist, economic, environmental, and cultural agenda, there isn’t going to be much left to America,” the author asserted. “When you’ve got a Supreme Court nominee who can’t even define a woman, we know this nation is in serious trouble.”
Clarion County Republican Party Chairman Rick Rathfon concurred that winning is critical for Republicans, adding he would support Trump if he runs. Rathfon expects a brutal, ugly, bare-knuckles brawl in 2024 if Trump is the presidential candidate.
“They’ve never quit trying to destroy him,” Rathfon ruefully remarked. “Trump did a lot of good things for our country. He absolutely did. But I think it would be a mistake for him to run, just because of the hatred that the Democrats and the mainstream media have for him.”
The Clarion County Republican leader said he admires Governor Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., and thinks he would be a good presidential candidate. But only if Trump does not run. If the 45th president runs, he will take Pa. by a large margin.
Sam Faddis, a retired agent for the Central Intelligence Agency and author, reportedly said the major parties do not know what to make of Trump. He is not a product of traditional political processes. Trump called a press conference at his Fifth Avenue Trump Towers property and announced he was running for president.
“He’s totally outside the system,” Faddis said. “He’s not part of the uni-party.”
Both parties tend to agree on how government should be run, Faddis added, noting their idea is a government that always gets bigger and more expensive.
“Donald Trump is a wrecking ball, so of course he has to be destroyed as far as the establishment is concerned,” Faddis explained.
“If Donald Trump runs, he will, head and shoulders, without any question, be the choice,” Faddis declared. “I can’t imagine that another MAGA-type person could challenge him in the primary in Pennsylvania and have any hope of winning.”
“That’s not possible.”
