Students at a Wisconsin university are apparently angry someone with views they disagree with will present a campus speech.
Author Matt Walsh’s book “Johnny the Walrus” is ranked number 13 by Amazon, so it’s not surprising his invited speech is sold out. What is surprising is the virulent anger displayed by a number of other University of Wisconsin students. Many expressed anger because they perceive his book more as anti-LGBTQ propaganda than one of political parody.
The Daily Wire further reported:
UW’s Young America’s Foundation (YAF) chapter is hosting Walsh’s sold out speech, which includes a screening of his documentary challenging radical gender theory “What Is A Woman?” and a question-and-answer session.
Multiple protesters of Walsh are seen on YAF video tearing out pages of the Bible, with at least one male eating the pages. “Protesters have now shredded the Bible and one began eating pages,” the conservative group captioned the footage.
Despite threats and intimidation from protesters, YAF and Walsh are not backing down from the event — and Walsh has personally responded to his detractors’ antics.
“Well, you can be on the side that eats the Bible and castrates children, or you can be on literally any side but that one. Your choice, America,” the host asserted.
Another Walsh protester denounced “white people” for being “f***ing racist.” It’s unclear why “white people” were attacked in relation to Walsh’s speech.
“White people stop being f***ing racist, all of you,” the woman shouted. “White people… you need to realize the space you take up and you need to realize how hard it is every single f***ing day for bipoc (black, Indigenous, and people of color) people especially at this institute.”
Other protesters vandalized a campus building dedicated to veterans, writing, “Trans women are women – F*** Matt Walsh and YAF.”
“Today we saw an absolutely inexcusable act of vandalism on our most beloved campus building, which is dedicated to veterans, ahead of [Matt Walsh’s] visit,” the university’s YAF chapter posted, captioning photos of the damage, The Daily Wire reported.
“Campus leftists can’t handle the fact that we’re bringing a speaker to campus whose views differ from theirs because they’re used to being coddled by [UW],” the group added.
Moreover, Dean of Students Christina Olstad and Gabe Javier, an associate vice chancellor, put out a statement on social media over the weekend offering their support to transgender students ahead of the event.
“To the trans members of our UW-Madison community, we see you and we value you,” they wrote. “We will continue to do our part to make this campus more welcoming and inclusive regardless of what speakers may counter this value.”
“Leftist crybullies at [UW-Madison] vandalized a veteran’s memorial along with several other buildings because they’re upset that I’m speaking on campus,” Walsh blasted. “The university responded by apologizing to the vandals and taking their side. The worst cowardice I’ve ever seen by a university.”
Still, the speech is slated to start at 7:30 p.m. ET, and will be streamed here.
