Musician Kid Rock told Fox News host Tucker Carlson that he had no plans to apologize for a drunken rant attacking Oprah Winfrey and “The View” host Joy Behar.
Carlson interviewed the performer for an episode of his Fox Nation series “Tucker Carlson Originals,” and he shared a preview of the episode — titled “Life of a Rock Star” — on Monday.
During the episode — which showed Carlson visiting Kid Rock in Nashville and even following him to a tour stop — the discussion turned to a video that celebrity gossip site TMZ published in 2019. The video showed Kid Rock, at his Nashville honky-tonk, on stage repeating “f*** Oprah Winfrey!”
“A drunk man’s words are a sober man’s thoughts, I own what I said,” Kid Rock told Carlson of the incident.
“I don’t apologize to anybody. I’m not an Oprah Winfrey fan. I got drunk and f***in’ next thing, I’m on stage [saying] f*** Oprah …” he added.
During that same incident, Kid Rock also appeared to confuse Regis Philbin’s longtime partner Kathie Lee Gifford with actress and comedian Kathy Griffin.
“I was trying to go after Kathy Griffin you know, for holding up Trump’s head, but I’m so out of it I’m like ‘f*** Kathie Lee Gifford,’” he explained.
That, according to the performer, was the only thing he regretted about that drunken rant — namely because he said actually does like Kathie Lee Gifford.
“When it comes back on TMZ or whatever a few weeks later I’m like ‘oh man, I like Kathie Lee Gifford.’ We’ve been kind of friendly throughout the years,” he said.
