Ivana Trump died Thursday due to blunt force trauma and injuries to her torso from a fall, according to the Office of the New York City Chief Medical Examiner.
The fall is believed to be accidental, a spokesperson for the office said.
“Having released this determination, OCME will not comment further on the investigation,” the medical examiner’s office said.
Ivana Trump was found unconscious near the bottom of the stairs in her apartment on Thursday, according to the New York City Police Department. The New York City Fire Department responded to a call about a cardiac arrest at Trump’s residence on Thursday. Someone at Trump’s residence reportedly called the police and asked them to perform a wellness check, as they hadn’t seen her in some time. Police arrived and found Trump at the bottom of the stairs.
Ivana was the first wife of former President Donald Trump and was the mother of Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric Trump.
Former President Trump wrote an announcement on Ivana’s passing on Truth Social, “I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City. She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life. Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!”
Trump also postponed his Friday Arizona rally “out of love and respect for Ivana.” The rally will instead be taking place on July 22.
Donald and Ivana’s son Eric posted a message on Truth Social as well. “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ivana Trump,” he wrote. “Our mother was an incredible woman — a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and caring mother and friend. Ivana Trump was a survivor. She fled from communism and embraced this country. She taught her children about grit and toughness, compassion and determination. She will be dearly missed by her mother, her three children and ten grandchildren.”
