On Friday, hundreds of protesters gathered outside the State Capitol Building in Lansing, Michigan to support healthcare workers in their fight against mandated vaccines.
In detail: “Stand Up Michigan,” a conservative group with the stated vision to “reclaim and defend the rights and liberties of We The People of Michigan,” organized the protest as hospitals and healthcare providers around the state continue to announce vaccination mandates.
Tammy Clark, executive director of the group, rallied the crowd and advocated for non-violent civil disobedience.
“If we don’t stop this now, we won’t get another chance,” Clark said. “We have inalienable rights and we are not going to give them up. We must refuse to comply with the vaccine mandates and forced mask-wearing at all costs. If you lose your job, go out and get another job!”
Dr. David Vella also addressed the crowd, calling mandated vaccinations “a coerced gene treatment” that violates the Hippocratic Oath, the U.S. Constitution, and international human rights laws, including the Nuremberg Code.
“Stand up and fight for medical freedom,” Vella told the crowd. “There is no other America out there coming to save us. We must save ourselves. If we do not use the power we have, we will lose it.”
Worth noting: Many protesters recognized that the vaccine may be beneficial, but clarified that they believe citizens should not be forced to take it in order to keep their jobs or attend school.
“I am a vaccine believer, but I also believe you have the right to take a vaccine that you want to put in your body,” explained Tammy Munro, a 47-year-old dental hygienist from a nearby Lansing town.
Munro came to the rally with her two daughters, one of whom is entering her final year at the University of Michigan. The University recently announced that it will require COVID-19 vaccinations on all its campuses, meaning Munro’s daughter will have to take the vaccine in order to finish her degree.
“I am hoping and praying that they hear this and they stop all of this, especially these universities for these poor, innocent young adults. They should not be coerced into taking anything,” Munro said.
