This year on President’s Day, former President Donald Trump is expected to open his Twitter-like social media platform to public users.
The 45th President of the United States created Truth Media & Technology Group (TMTG) last year after he was banned from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. His new company will merge with a special purpose acquisition company, Digital World Acquisition Corp. (DWAC). The money raised by the so-called “blank-check” company will finance the former president’s challenge to liberal-left Twitter.
Loyal Trump followers have waited for the mobile application since hearing news that DWAC was formed in October 2021. According to a listing on the Apple store, it appears their wait will end on President’s Day, February 21, 2022.
TMTG is accepting preorders for the app before its expected release date, according to a Friday New York Post report. “Users of the platform can share their unique opinion by posting a TRUTH, Re-TRUTH, photo, news story or video link to communicate with your friends, customers, and the world,” the report added.
“Stay informed about breaking news while staying directly connected with the people who influence you – don’t be shocked if they take your TRUTH viral!” the listing reportedly reads.
To take on Big Tech censorship, Trump said TMTG is creating a “Big Tent” platform, Truth Social, which will invite people of all political stripes and viewpoints to participate in the great American debate. Trump said in a statement that that is what our country is supposed to be about. “Unlike with the Big Tech platforms, there will be no shadow-banning, throttling, demonetizing, or messing with algorithms for political manipulation,” he stated. “We will not be treating users like lab rats for social experiments, or labeling alternative views as ‘disinformation.’ We will not silence our fellow citizens simply because they might be wrong — or worse — because we think that Americans ‘can’t handle the truth.'”
Backers of the new app claim it will be as free, vibrant, lively, and diverse as America itself. TMTG plans to add an on-demand video streaming service to compete with programming created by Big Tech and Big Media players.
Even though the company has yet to begin public operation, the federal Securities and Exchange Commission has already opened an investigation into the Trump-led enterprise, according to a December 6, 2021, Washington Post report.
A sneak-peek of how the mobile app operates is available on the TMTG website’s home page.
