California’s governor denied plans to run for president during the next two election cycles at a political forum in Texas.
Gov, Gavin Newsom (D-CA) convinced few people since many politicians have previously made similar denials months or weeks before announcing their candidacy.
Since Stan Lee is dead, there is no hope of a comic book series featuring “The Gavinator,” so he must seek publicity where he can.
The Daily Mail further reported:
Political pundits believe Newsom, 54, may be lining himself up as a successor to President Biden, 79, despite Biden’s insistence he isn’t too old to stand for a second term in 2024.
Biden’s Vice President Kamala Harris continues to poll poorly among voters, with many Dems desperate for a centrist and nimble candidate to give them a fighting chance against a GOP big hitter like Ron DeSantis or Donald Trump.
Bizarrely, Newsom’s first wife Kimberly Guilfoyle is now dating Trump’s son Don Jr, having given herself a political makeover to become a star face of the MAGA movement.
The governor continued to go on the offensive during the interview against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, calling him a ‘bully.’
When talking about the Florida governor’s scheme of flying asylum seekers to Martha’s Vineyard, Newsom said: ‘It’s clear DeSantis broke the law . . .and broke any precedent of decency and honor.’
He went on: ‘DeSantis is rightfully being called out, but not by enough people. And that’s what concerns me. The appalling silence within the Republican Party.’
Previously, Newsom has challenged DeSantis to a debate. In April, he vowed to donate $100,000 to DeSantis’ Democratic opponent in November, Charlie Crist.
As Newsom runs for reelection in California, he has gone so far as to run ads in Texas and Florida, with his interest in national politics fueling rumors he’s planning a presidential run.
‘These guys are ruthless on the other side,’ Newsom said. ‘Where are we? Where are we organizing, bottom up, a compelling alternative narrative? Where are we going on the offense every single day? They’re winning right now.’
Newsom said that´s why – even though he is running for reelection as governor of California – he has been spending some of the millions of dollars in his campaign account on TV ads in Florida urging people to move to California, newspaper ads in Texas decrying the state´s gun laws, and putting up billboards in seven states urging women to come to California if they need an abortion.
Of course, the main reason Newsom can do those things is because he faces little pressure at home. Newsom is likely to cruise to a second term as governor of California in November, facing a little-known and underfunded Republican challenger one year after defeating a recall attempt.
He said: ‘Those conservative governors out there, Greg Abbott and others, they’re as dumb as they want to be. And they’re just doubling down on stupid, and we will not follow their path.’
Newsom’s aggressiveness could end up helping Abbott, who is locked in a more competitive race with former Congressman Beto O’Rourke.
Kenneth Grasso, a political science professor at Texas State University, said there has been concern among some in the Republican Party that Abbott is ‘not conservative enough.’
Newsom’s attacks against Abbott ‘only helps him with those people,’ Grasso said.
‘If you stress that they’re right-wingers, you call them extremists, using that kind of language, all you are going to do is enhance their popularity in their own base,’ he said.
