Candace Owens was moved to action when she heard that the Norfolk Virginia Police Department fired Lt. William Kelly when it became known that he donated $25 in support of Kyle Rittenhouse’s defense fund.
Kelly had served as executive officer of internal affairs.
Owens started a support drive for Kelly on the Christian Crowdfunding site, GiveSendGo.
The Daily Wire reports that Kelly’s GiveSendGo site shows donations have exceeded $230,000 thus far—significantly exceeding the $100,000 goal Owens hoped to meet.
Trouble started for Kelly when the GiveSendGo site suffered a data breach and it was disclosed that Kelly contributed a small amount to the Rittenhouse defense fund.
The donation included a note: “God bless. Thank you for your courage. Keep your head up. You’ve done nothing wrong. Every rank and file police officer supports you. Don’t be discouraged by actions of the political class of law enforcement leadership.”
The Blaze reports that Kelly was fired in April after “The Guardian revealed the names of police officers and other public officials who donated to Rittenhouse’s legal defense fund.”
Candace noted her feelings on the matter in a cover note for the crowdfunding page for Kelly:
“By now you know there is nothing I hate more than media lies and its corresponding mob justice. Perhaps some of the greatest media lies over this last year, were pertaining to the Kyle Rittenhouse case.”
Candace continued, “Former Lieutenant William Kelly [was] punished for siding with the truth.”
“[Kelly’s] spineless police chief, Larry Boone, a radical BLM supporter who attended BLM rallies in uniform— allowed the double standard of his firing to occur because to Boone, delivering mob justice mattered more than siding with truth.” Owens’ note reads.
Her cover note concludes: “Kyle Rittenhouse is innocent. So is Lieutenant Kelly. Please support him.”
The Daily Wire reports that Kelly will be a guest on Tuesday’s episode of “Candace,” where the host will present him with a check from the GiveSendGo crowdfunding organization.
On Friday, Rittenhouse was acquitted on all charges stemming from the August 2020 shootings in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
