A 37-year-old woman was arrested by federal law enforcement officials for allegedly making a bomb threat against Boston Children’s Hospital last month.
Catherine Leavy of Westfield, Massachusetts, called the hospital, telling the operator, “There is a bomb on the way to the hospital. You better evacuate everybody. You sickos.” Massachusetts U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins said.
Authorities obtained a warrant and tracked the call to a T-Mobile phone that led them to Leavy. Leavy was arrested without incident at her home.
Leavy has been charged with one count of making a false telephonic bomb threat, and could face up to five years in federal prison if convicted.
The hospital was in the news recently after conservative Twitter account Libs of TikTok tweeted out a video recording of Dr. Frances Grimstad, a gynecologist and obstetrician at Boston Children’s Hospital, speaking about “gender-affirming hysterectomies,” in which she describes the procedure, which is “the removal of the uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes” as well as, in some cases, the removal of ovaries.
After this video was shared by the account, however, the hospital received the bomb threat.
This is a breaking story.
