The apartment and office of former New York mayor and personal lawyer to the President Rudy Giuliani was raided by federal agents on Wednesday, and multiple electronic devices were seized in the early hours of the morning.
The raid occurred at approximate 6 a.m. at Giuliani”s New York apartment. Giuliani has been under investigation by the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office in relation to his overseas business dealings in the country of Ukraine.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Giuliani’s attorney Robert Costello described the move as “legal thuggery” and expressed frustration at investigators’ refusal to cooperate with his client, stating, “It’s like I’m talking to a wall.”
Costello also described some of the details of the raid, which has been closely kept secret by the corporate media:
Mr. Costello said authorities arrived at Mr. Giuliani’s apartment at 6 a.m. and seized his electronic devices. Mr. Costello said the search warrant describes the investigation as a probe into a possible violation of foreign lobbying rules. Mr. Costello said the warrant sought communications between Mr. Giuliani and individuals including John Solomon, a columnist who was in communication with Mr. Giuliani about his effort to push for investigations of Joe Biden in Ukraine.
Giuliani came under the radar and was criticized for his role in investigating allegations of voter fraud for President Donald Trump following the 2020 presidential election.
Giuliani responded to the situation, and accused federal agents of ignoring copies of Hunter Biden’s computer hard drives when they raided his apartment — and blamed the investigation of him on “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
In a statement released by his lawyer, Giuliani said the FBI “steadfastly declined” to take the hard drives when he “offered them on several occasions.”
“Keep in mind that the agents could not read the physical hard drives without plugging them in, but they took Mr. Giuliani’s word that the hard drives were copies of Hunter Biden’s hard drive and did not contain anything pertaining to Mr. Giuliani,” the statement said.
“Their reliance on Mr. Giuliani’s credibility tells you everything you need to know about this case.”
The statement from lawyer Robert Costello described Wednesday’s action against Giuliani as an example of how the Justice Department is “running rough shod over the constitutional rights of anyone involved in, or legally defending, former President Donald J. Trump.”
“It is outrageous that the Trump Derangement Syndrome has gone so far that hatred has driven this unjustified and unethical attack on the United States Attorney and Mayor who did more to reduce crime than virtually any other in American history,” the statement said.
