The president’s chief medical advisor told CBS “Face The Nation” anchor Margaret Brennan said he is the object of a lot of spin and lies.
Brennan asked Dr. Anthony Fauci why he stayed on his job in the face of threats and invective. The health advisor responded he has focused on making scientific advances to protect the health of Americans.
“So, anyone who spins lies, threatens and all that theater that goes on with some of their investigations, and the Congressional committees, and the Rand Pauls and all that other nonsense, that’s noise, Margaret,” said Fauci, “That’s noise.”
Then Ms. Brennan informed her guest that Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) told the Attorney General Fauci should be prosecuted.
“Yeah, I have to laugh at that,” responded a laughing Fauci. “What happened on January 6, Senator?”
The nation’s infectious diseases expert later agreed with Brennan’s speculation he is being scapegoated to distract from President Trump and investigation into the January 6 Capitol riot.
Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who was singled out by Dr. Fauci during his “Face the Nation” sit down with Ms. Brennan responded with a post on his Twitter account.
“The absolute hubris of someone claiming THEY represent science,” said the incredulous senator. “It’s astounding and alarming that a public health bureaucrat would even think to claim such a thing, especially one who has worked so hard to ignore the science of natural immunity.”

“‘I represent science’ is something that no real scientist would ever say,” posted Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh.

Self-described political commentator Alicia Smith tweeted her reaction to the doctor’s statements. “Look, you don’t have to be some Fauci conspiracy theorist to recognize that Fauci’s utility as a trusted public health official has long since expired, and he tends to be a net negative when it comes to clarity and trust,” said Smith.
Steve Guest, a communications advisor for Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) responded, “Dr. Fauci’s flippant response underscores how he views himself as Democrat political operative first and “scientist” last. Fauci lives to weaponize his white lab coat to suit his partisan aims and win plaudits from the DC swamp.”
Former Acting Director of National Intelligence said, “Fauci is all about politics.”
National Review’s Dan McLaughlin snarked right back at the president’s senior health advisor. “Is Dr. Fauci under the impression that nobody is being prosecuted for Jan. 6?” McLaughlin questioned. “Or, is he saying Ted Cruz should be prosecuted for speech & debate on the Senate floor?”
