The Epoch Times is reporting an unbelievable but happy story. A dying, older man, placed on a ventilator in a hospital ward, has recovered from COVID-19.
The end of the story is happy, but the details make the story amazing.
Seventy-one-year-old Sun Ng traveled from Hong Kong to the Chicago area in October to celebrate his granddaughter’s birthday. He became ill a few days after entering the United States.
His health deteriorated rapidly, even after being admitted to Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois.
When he was “close to death,” Ng was “intubated and placed on a ventilator.” Given his age and the seriousness of his symptoms, a positive outcome was doubtful.
The Epoch Times notes that hospital physicians prescribed remdesivir, but that “it failed to work.”
At this point, Ng’s daughter, Man Kwan Ng, recommended to hospital staff that her father be treated with ivermectin, noting that multiple studies on the use of ivermectin showed positive results.
Hospital staff rejected the suggestion, citing the FDA’s guidance to the contrary and the CDC’s Health advisory warning regarding the use of ivermectin.
Ng’s tenacious daughter took the matter to court. On Nov. 1, Judge Paul M. Fullerton of the Circuit Court of DuPage County ruled in Ng’s favor and ordered the hospital to administer ivermectin to Ng.
The hospital refused to comply.
Frustrated and desperate, Ng returned to court, telling the judge on Nov. 5 that hospital physicians described her father as “basically on his death bed,” noting his odds of survival were, at best, 15 percent.
Again the judge ruled in Ng’s favor and ordered the hospital to “immediately allow … temporary emergency privileges” to Ng’s [new] physician, Dr. Alan Bain, “solely to administer ivermectin to this patient.”
Amazingly, for the next few days, the hospital refused to allow Dr. Bain access to his patient to administer ivermectin. Hospital representatives stated they “couldn’t let Bain in because he was not vaccinated against COVID-19 and their chief medical officer wasn’t available to ‘proctor’ Bain administering ivermectin,” according to the Times report.
Ng’s daughter’s attorney, Kirstin M. Erickson, responded by filing an emergency request to the court on Nov. 8.
After being updated by hospital staff and Ng’s attorney, the judge rebuked hospital representatives and ordered that Dr. Bain be allowed access to Mr. Ng for 15 days to administer ivermectin.
Remarkably, the hospital responded by filing a motion to stay the order.
The court denied that motion and, again, directed the hospital to comply.
Finally, the hospital allowed the doctor to administer ivermectin, and Ng’s grave condition quickly improved. He was discharged from the hospital on Nov. 27.
A happy daughter said, “My father’s recovery is amazing.”
She added: “My father is a tough man. He was working so hard to survive, and of course, with God’s holding hands. He weaned off oxygen about three days after moving out of the ICU. He started oral feeding before hospital discharge. He returned home without carrying a bottle of oxygen and a feeding tube installed to his stomach. He can now stand with a walker at the bedside and practice stepping. After being sedated for a month on a ventilator in ICU, his performance is beyond our expectations. Praise the Lord.”
Ng’s attorney noted that the “happy ending” provides “hope for the nation.”
