DC Mayor Muriel Bowser Calls For National Guard To Deal With Influx of Illegal Migrants

Washington, D.C.’s mayor has asked the Defense Department to activate the National Guard after states sent 4,000 illegal aliens to D.C.

“Immigration is a federal issue, one that needs to be addressed by the federal government with federal resources,” Mayor Muriel Bowser said in a letter her office sent to the Secretary of Defense.

The Democratic mayor of the nation’s capitol asked for immediate federal assistance in the form of 150 National Guard troops per day to help charities handle illegal aliens bussed to the city. She further requested use of Guard vehicles and fuel to transport illegals that Texas and Arizona bus to D.C. from their drop off points to the D.C. Armory or Fort McNair. She wants them transported there and housed until arrangements can be made to move them to their final destination.

Bowser said Texas and Arizona had shipped about 4,000 illegal aliens on 200 buses to her city over the last three month. She now claims her city is at a tipping point in their ability to help the indigent illegal border crossers.

“Our collective response and service efforts have now become overwhelmed,” Bowser noted, adding their welcome center in Montgomery County, Maryland, is full. “Our homeless services system is already under great strain; and tragically many families arrive in Washington, DC with nowhere to go, or they remain in limbo seeking onward destinations across the United States.”

Meanwhile, Border Patrol agents are reporting encounters with almost one-quarter of a million illegal aliens at the Southern border every month. So, in the three months that Bowser claims her city is overwhelmed from helping 4,000 illegals, states like Texas and Arizona have seen more than one million illegals enter their states.

According to an NBC report, the D.C. mayor has not received a response from the Defense Secretary regarding her request for National Guard help with handling illegals. No doubt, the Biden administration is worried that if it gives Bowser the help she requests, the federal government would be required to provide substantially more help to Texas and Arizona to help them cope with their surges.

Some social media users have contrasted the Washington Democrat’s call for National Guard resources to handle 4,000 illegal aliens with her refusal to use the same troopers when they were requested January 6, 2021.
