Comedian Andy Dick, 56, has been arrested in California on a felony charge of residential burglary.
Santa Barbara Police Department spokesman Sgt. Ethan Ragsdale says that the incident occurred on a homeowner’s private property. Police were notified, and when they arrived on the scene, Dick was detained and then arrested with probable cause.
TMZ reports that Dick was attempting to steal power tools from the homeowners while their home was under construction and that the incident occurred on Oct. 13, meaning that Dick has been locked up for over a week. His bail has reportedly been set for $50K.
The comedian, who has had major roles in films such as “Zoolander,” has been embattled with the law for the last decade.
Dick was punched outside a bar in New Orleans in 2019. He stated at the time that the incident had caused him “serious, permanent and disabling injuries,” according to The Associated Press.
However, prior to that attack, Dick had been accused of and charged with a slew of different crimes. He was charged in 2008 with sexual battery and possession of narcotics, pleading guilty and being placed in probation for three years. He would later violate that probation. In 2010, he was arrested for sexual abuse.
Additional charges Dick has faced have included assault with a deadly weapon, groping and sexual assault.
He was most recently arrested in May of this year on suspicion of sexual battery, but charges against him were dropped in that case because the victim in the case did not cooperate with authorities in the investigation.
