It is difficult understanding how politically powerful people were so stupid as to believe then-candidate Donald Trump would poison Hillary Clinton.
A book scheduled for release Tuesday, “Confidence Man,” dishes dirt about White House occupants during former President Donald Trump’s tenure, The Washington Post reported.
“During preparations for the third debate in 2016, Hillary Clinton’s team was disrupted by a warning from the husband of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) who said he had been told that Russians might try to poison Clinton through a handshake with Trump to inflict a dramatic health episode during the debate,” New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman wrote in her 607-page tome.
President Joe Biden’s White House Chief of Staff, Ron Klain, helped Clinton prepare for her debates against Trump during the 2016 campaign. He reportedly doubted the New York real estate billionaire would be able to poison the New York Democrat without poisoning himself.
“Her communications director, Jennifer Palmieri, took the prospect seriously enough to check it out,” Haberman wrote, “The warning turned out to be mere speculation from a historian with no knowledge of Russian plans.”
Clinton dismissed the idea. Her fake Steele Dossier duped the FBI and CIA to investigate and spy on Trump, so she recognized the claim for the disinformation it was.
Obviously no such attempt was made and neither candidate reported unusual physical ailments after the debate. Any illness Clinton experienced occurred after the general election ended with Trump elected president.
Feinstein’s husband, Richard Blum, died earlier this year, according to an SFGate report.
The author claims she interviewed the former president three times for her book and she includes a few pages of her written questions followed by his answers.
Trump replied to her question about reports of him wielding gold bricks into his New York office in the 1990s, referring to it as a fantasy question.
He answered the New York Times reporter’s last question with the parting: “FAKE NEWS–GOOD NIGHT!”
