A Texas border town mayor blasted U.S. President Joe Biden’s immigration policy, worrying a bad situation will get worse soon.
Uvalde, Texas Mayor Donald McLaughlin described chaos caused by illegal aliens in a September 2021 interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson. The mayor worries that the situation in his town will worsen if President Biden actually allows Title 42 to end May 22. The Trump policy allowed U.S. border agents to immediately return illegals to Mexico as part of a pandemic protection plan crafted between the U.S. and Mexico. Biden critics fear a return to a “catch-and-release” policy for illegals apprehended at the southern border.
Friday, Mayor McLaughlin appeared on “Fox and Friends” to warn about unprecedented chaos he expects is coming to Texas once the Biden administration stops enforcing Title 42. He called the policy one of the most effective tools that limited the flood of immigrants stampeding across the border during the pandemic.
He expects his community will face an exponential increase in the number of illegal immigrants once Title 42 ends. Uvalde’s mayor noted the large increase in illegal aliens entering his town since Biden became president.
“We’ve been dealing with this crisis for the last year,” he said, adding he can not fathom how much worse America’s illegal immigration crisis will get.
“What’s coming on the 23rd of May won’t even be describable,” the mayor said. “I mean, you’re talking about thousands of people that are going to hit that border, that are just waiting to cross the border.”
McLaughlin claims the federal government is not prepared for the coming mega-surge. He credits Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas) for trying to prepared for it.
“But, it’s going to be just the wild, wild west and crazy down here,” said McLaughlin who adds he fears the federal government will dump illegals on them without providing help.
Gov. Abbott may have had similar worries as he announced plans to use 900 buses to transport illegals on an 1,800 mile trip from the southern Texas border to Washington, D.C.
“The federal government is planning for up to 18,000 illegal immigrants crossing per day,” Abbott said. “That’s more than a half a million illegal immigrants crossing the border every single month from more than 150 different countries.”
A Wednesday report by “Caller Times” said the Texas governor also promised to step up military activity among National Guard troops deployed to South Texas. Their efforts will reportedly include placing razor wire in low-water areas of the Rio Grande.
