Watch: Bongino Rips Biden’s, Democrats’ Hypocrisy on COVID Travel Ban Similar to Trump’s

Conservative commentator Dan Bongino joined the growing list of people ripping United States President Joe Biden for banning travel from eight African countries.

The Fox News “Unfiltered” host Saturday said President Biden’s African travel ban is “replicating what he himself called racist.”

On Friday, the President announced a ban on travel from eight African countries beginning Nov. 29.

“This morning I was briefed by my chief medical advisor, Dr. Tony Fauci, and the members of our COVID response team, about the Omicron variant, which is spreading through Southern Africa,” Biden said in a statement Friday. “As a precautionary measure, until we have more information, I am ordering additional air travel restrictions from South Africa and seven other countries.”

Biden’s African travel ban is similar to the Trump travel ban that Biden criticized in February 2020, a point that has been vocally criticized by many political observers.

Brit Hume worked at ABC News for 23 years before joining Fox News in 1996. After the President announced his African travel ban, Hume compared it on Friday with a Biden Twitter post from February 2020 criticizing Trump. “This was Biden on what he called the ‘African Ban’ last year,” Hume said before noting, “Now he’s imposed one himself.”

Political strategist Arthur Schwartz commented on a Twitter post about the African travel ban. “Sounds kinda (sic) racist and xenophobic,” said Schwartz.

Richard Grenell, a former Acting Director of National Intelligence, blasted the ban in a Twitter post. “Biden’s extended un-American travel ban undermines our nation’s core values,” Grenell said. “It is clearly driven by hate, not security.”

The attitudinal flip-flop by Biden Administration members began days before the President-elect’s inauguration, as witnessed by a January 18, 2020 Twitter post from Jen Psaki. The Press Secretary for the Biden Administration opined, “With the pandemic worsening, and more contagious variants emerging around the world, this is not the time to be lifting restrictions on international travel.”

Bongino piled on with his take of the ban, which he implied was constructed of many layers.

“Here’s the easy, kind of superficial one: Joe Biden’s a fraud,” Bongino began his Saturday broadcast. “But here’s the deeper layer to this: The Democrat Party is the biggest grift in the history of humankind.”

“There has never been a bigger donor scam, collectively, in the history of humanity than the Democrat Party,” he added.

Watch:

The Fox host noted Trump banned travel from some of these same countries, for some of the same reasons outlined by Biden. Bongino said Trump faced a lot of unknowns about the novel coronavirus and thought his travel ban may have worked.

“Now, a year and a half later, we already know these travel bans … have done nothing to stop the delta, they’ve done nothing to stop any other variant out there,” the Fox host said.

The European Union, United Kingdom, and Israel also halted air travel from Southern Africa in response to the omicron variant, according to a Fox News report.
