New photos reveal several cheat sheets used by President Joe Biden during his Thursday press conference — including one with the headshots and names of reporters he planned to call on.
The president also used notes to assist with facts about US infrastructure, a policy area Biden is focusing on during his first months in the White House.
“The United States now ranks 13th globally in infrastructure quality — down from 5th place in 2002,” read one bullet point.
But despite having the answers in front of him, Biden still slipped up, saying America ranked 85th in the world in infrastructure, before correcting himself.
The press pool at Thursday’s briefing, the first one held by Biden since taking office 65 days ago, was limited to 25 reporters.
Biden only took questions from a list of journalists whose names and outlets he read from a cue card. A photo of the card shows circled numbers around select reporters.
In the early stages of the 62 minutes presser, in which Biden fielded 10 questions, the president appeared to repeatedly lose his train of thought, forgetting questions and asking reporters if they wanted him to give detailed answers.
You can see numbers next to journalists’ faces and names, suggesting that the president was taking prepared questions in order.
“Biden is calling on friendly reporters based on a list. It has already been in advance. Biden is repeatedly looking at notes, unable to answer without help” Daily Wire reporter Ryan Saavedra said.
“My God. This is sick. He has to look at notes to who to call on????” a Twitter user said.
Biden keeps referring to his list and his notes as he takes the questions.
“Well, I’m — look,” Biden said and paused, then began looking through a booklet of scripted answers. “When, uh, when I took office I, uh, decided that it was a fairly basic, simple proposition. And that is, I got elected to solve problems.”
“And the most urgent problems facing the American people I stated from the outset,” he contiued, “was COVID-19 and the economic dislocation for millions and millions of Americans.”
“And so that’s why I put all my focus in the beginning, for a lot of problems, put all of my focus on dealing with those particular problems,” Biden said while again referring to his notes.
Even Chris Wallace called him out for referring to his notes during the press conference, saying he had “never seen any POTUS do that.”
“President Trump took time to answer all of the left wing reporters during his many press conferences. Biden wouldn’t even let one conservative outlet ask him a question. Shows how fragile he is. He could only take softball questions from friendly media that he was briefed on.”
“Daily reminder—Donald Trump never needed his handlers to write out a pre-approved list of reporters to call on during his press conferences.” Charlie Kirk said.
“Names and faces! My God he had a 3rd grade level cheat sheet!”
