Jeff Bezos disputed another tweet by President Joe Biden Sunday after the president claimed to have lowered the national deficit.

“Under my predecessor, the deficit increased every single year,” remarked President Biden Saturday. “This year, we’re on track to cut the deficit by $1.5 trillion – the biggest one-year decline ever. It matters to families, because reducing the deficit is one of the main ways we can ease inflationary pressures.”

The Neoliberal Project, which describes itself as a group that works to advance a liberal society by creating a neoliberal identity panned the president’s remark. “This is so silly,” declared the group’s Twitter account. “The deficit is decreasing because we’re not doing pandemic aid anymore, and federal receipts are up because of inflation.”

“Congress, or the Biden administration, didn’t do anything to lower the deficit.”

The owner of the Washington Post retweeted Neoliberal’s comments Sunday, adding a message of his own to Biden. “In fact, the administration tried hard to inject even more stimulus into an already over-heated, inflationary economy and only Manchin saved them from themselves,” bemoaned Bezos. “Inflation is a regressive tax that most hurts the least affluent. Misdirection doesn’t help the country.”

The exchange is the second round of disagreements between Bezos and Biden, which began Friday with a presidential post to Twitter.

““You want to bring down inflation?” asked U.S. President Joe Biden in a Friday evening tweet. “Let’s make sure the wealthiest corporations pay their fair share.”

Amazon’s founder faulted the president’s reasoning and called him out in a tweet.

“The newly created Disinformation [Governance] Board should review this tweet, or maybe they need to form a new Non Sequitur Board instead,” Bezos commented on his Twitter account. “Raising corp taxes is fine to discuss. Taming inflation is critical to discuss. Mushing them together is just misdirection.”
