An autopsy report shows that Jeanie Evans, 68, died of “anaphylaxis due to a COVID-19 vaccination.”
The Effingham, Kansas, resident died March 24, 2021, a day after receiving the Moderna vaccine.
Jeanie Evans received her first dose of the Moderna COVID vaccine on March 23, 2021. Her family reports that she complained of difficulty breathing about 15 to 20 minutes after receiving the COVID shot.
Evans was rushed by ambulance to Stormont-Vail Health hospital but sadly, she died the next day at 11:55 a.m.
Family members immediately tied her death to her vaccination, noting in her obituary that she “died from a reaction to the Covid vaccine.”
On Tuesday, eleven months after her death, Evans’ autopsy records were obtained by the Topeka Capital-Journal after submitting a Kansas Open Records Act request. The autopsy report confirms that Evans died of “anaphylaxis due to a COVID-19 vaccination.”
The Topeka Capital-Journal report reads:
Jeanie Evans died of “anaphylaxis due to COVID-19 vaccination,” according to her autopsy report.
The Effingham resident died March 24, 2021, a day after the Moderna vaccine was administered to her in Jefferson County.
Evans, 68, had a medical history of hypertension, environmental allergies, allergic disorder and reactive airway disease — which wasn’t asthma — and had experienced previous anaphylactic reactions to the drug Albuterol.
Evans began to complain that her airway felt blocked about 15 to 20 minutes after she received her first COVID vaccination on March 23, 2021. Evans was taken by ground ambulance at 5:21 p.m. to Stormont-Vail, where she died at 11:55 a.m. the next day.
The report adds that Colt Umphenour, one of Evans’ sons, said the family intends to file suit.
“I am actively looking for a new attorney to represent the family,” Umphenour said.
Evans’ autopsy was carried out by medical examiner Beth Frost of Kansas City Forensic Medical Holdings of Kansas LLC, a provider of coroner services for Shawnee County.
